WC/C-DLC: Innovative multilayer coating

Whether in the automotive, aerospace or mechanical engineering industries, they all benefit from the excellent tribological wear protection of WC/C-DLC coatings. WC/C stands for Tungsten Carbide Carbon, DLC for Diamond Like Carbon. This hard material coating is realized with our specially developed RUBIG PVD systems.

 Multilayer coating: combination of properties 
The WC/C-DLC coating is multilayered, combining layers with different properties. Depending on the customer's requirements, different effects can be achieved. For example, a high toughness layer can be combined with a very hard layer. The result is a coating that is flexible but still provides a high level of wear protection.
A so-called crack-stop effect can also be achieved, which prevents cracks from easily penetrating into the base material. As a result, the service life of the coated component is significantly extended. Multilayer coatings are particularly in demand in environments with high mechanical stress or wear.

Tribological wear protection for your components
The combination of tungsten carbide and carbon creates creates a tough, lubricious surface that minimizes, friction and wear. These coatings are ideal for applications where parts slide against each other, such as in precision components, sliders, or metalworking.

Using the latest PVD and PACVD technologies
At RUBIG, WC/C-DLC coatings are applied by PVD processes and are characterized by high hardness and temperature resistance, making them ideal for materials that must withstand temperatures above 300°C.

Scaling up
Are you happy with your prototype? If so, production can begin. Once your components have been delivered, they are carefully loaded into the system, coated, and then returned to you
