Successful cooperation between RUBIG and the HTL Wels

WELS: RUBIG Industrial Furnaces produces plasma and gas nitriding systems for customers worldwide. In order to be able to present the basic principle and the functioning of a plasma nitriding system, especially at trade fairs, the company from Wels developed a show system together with the HTL Wels. It does not only look like a real RUBIG plasma nitriding system in small format, but also produces the purple glowing plasma, which is essential for the premium heat treatment of RUBIG systems.

Overcoming challenges

The project was implemented in the course of the diploma thesis by the two HTL students Alexander Gärtner and Iulian Gavrilovici under the supervision of GE Christian Lehner (HTL Wels). In addition to the development of the entire electronics, it was also necessary to conceive the design of the show system. In the last step, a separate website was programmed, with which the show system can be controlled and input and output signals can be monitored. Engineer Gerhard Hattinger of the RUBIG company accompanied the project over the entire period and supported the two HTL students of the Higher Department of Mechatronics. Managing Director of RUBIG Industrial Furnaces GE Thomas Müller and Sales Manager Sabine Kreuzmayr agree: "The commitment of the students in realizing the project is impressive and how they were able to solve technically demanding tasks.“ RUBIG will already be using the show system at the next trade fair. In addition, there are already initial inquiries from customers who would like to use the show system to illustrate the plasma nitriding process.
